This Cookie Policy explains how Hos-Scans uses cookies and similar technologies on hos-scans.com, and the choices you have. The short version: we use what the site needs to work, plus first-party analytics only if you say yes. No advertising trackers, no data brokers.

This policy works together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more broadly.

01What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as local storage, let a website save small pieces of information in your browser. In this policy, "cookies" includes these similar technologies.

Some cookies are strictly necessary, because the site needs them to work or to remember a choice you made. Others are optional, such as analytics or advertising cookies that measure visits or track you across websites.

02What We Use

hos-scans.com uses one strictly necessary item, and analytics storage only if you accept:

  • Strictly necessary. Name: hs-cookie-consent. Type: browser local storage (first-party). Purpose: remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies in our cookie banner, so we don't ask on every page. Value: "accepted" or "declined". Duration: until you change your choice or clear your browser's site data.
  • Analytics, only after you accept. Name: ph_<project key>_posthog. Type: first-party cookie and local storage. Provider: PostHog, routed through hos-scans.com. Purpose: an anonymous identifier so we can count visits and see which pages and buttons are used. Duration: up to one year, or until you clear your browser's site data.

03What We Don't Use

We do not use:

  • Analytics of any kind before you accept, or after you decline
  • Advertising, retargeting, or marketing cookies
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Cross-site tracking, or sharing of browsing data with data brokers

04Your Choice & the Cookie Banner

When you first visit, our cookie banner asks whether you accept optional cookies. Until you choose, and if you decline, no analytics run and nothing beyond your choice is stored. If you click Accept ("Sounds good!"), PostHog analytics switch on as described above.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s data (cookies and site storage) in your browser settings. The banner will then ask again on your next visit.

05Hosting & Form Submissions

Our hosting provider receives standard technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, when it delivers pages to you, in order to serve the site securely and protect it from abuse. Our quote and contact forms send the information you enter directly to Hos-Scans; they do not set cookies.

06Managing Cookies in Your Browser

You can also control cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Every major browser lets you view, block, or delete stored site data, and private browsing modes discard it when you close the window. If you clear site data, our cookie banner will ask for your choice again on your next visit. Blocking strictly necessary storage will not stop the site from working.

07Changes to This Policy

If we change the technologies we use, for example by adding another analytics tool, we will update this Cookie Policy first and post it here with a new "Last updated" date. Optional cookies will always require your consent.
